Thomas Armster, der die Kulissen der n\u00e4chsten Trierer Oper &#8218;Katja Kabanowa&#8216; geschaffen hat, nennt seinen Entwurf ein &#8218;\u00dcberlaufbecken&#8216;. Denn symbolisch will er das &#8218;Lebensgef\u00e4ngnis&#8216; jener jungen Frau darstellen, um die es in diesem St\u00fcck geht. Das bedeutet: keine M\u00f6bel, keine Requisiten, &#8218;alles sehr reduziert&#8216;. Katja Kabanowa ist in diesem Raum gefangen. Sie erf\u00e4hrt st\u00e4ndig eine Bedrohung von au\u00dfen, was wir in Gestalt der imagin\u00e4ren Wolga zeigen wollen. So erkl\u00e4rt Thomas Armster sein B\u00fchnenbild.<\/p>\n<p>&#8218;Das russische Dorf liegt an der Autobahn. Jedenfalls zeigt Thomas Armsters B\u00fchnenbild eine Art Schnellstra\u00dfen-Unterf\u00fchrung aus Beton, von der sich die in fein gestuften Graut\u00f6nen gehaltenen Kost\u00fcme (Carola Vollath) nur m\u00fchsam abheben.
